George Albert Black
George Albert Black was born the fifth child of Joseph & Emma Williams Black on June 04,1943 in Maumee, Ohio. George died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on March 27,2020 of natural causes. George belonged to St. Joseph’s school and Maumee high school.
As a young man he worked his first job for a bicycle shop in Maumee and later went to work for Chrysler and later for General Dynamics in Lima,Ohio building tanks. George would make the long commute everyday with three other workers before he retired.
George was introduced to his future wife by friends and on May 9,1964 he married the woman he would spend the rest of his life with,Joann Petry. George and Joann spent almost 56 years
together and raised two children.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his son David, three sisters,Helen Brown,Violet Walters,Virgina Gonzalez, and two brother’s John Black and Richard Black. George is survived by his wife Joann, daughter Barbara black and Barbara’s children Kevin (Tracey) Rhoades and April (Dante Larson) Rhoades. George is also survived by his late son David’s children, Susan (Jacob) Dukat with three great grandchildren Halee, Alexander, Zachary. Melissa (James Bugaj) Black, Christina (Bill Burgholzer) Cook with two great children Austin and James Cook. David Black Jr. and great granddaughter Paige Black. George is also survived by two brother’s, Charles (Elaine) Black and Paul Black.
George was a long time Cleveland Brown’s fan and for several years was on a bowling league. He also enjoyed poker, bingo and playing aggravation. George made his own aggravation boards and would gamble with his family.
But mostly, George had so much pride and happiness in being with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
A memorial celebration will be held at a later time. Joann would like to thank Hospice for their care during this difficult time. Along with Joann’s sister Linda Kuyoth for being there to support. And thank you to her granddaughter Susan for being with her and George.
